Can I claim credit for speaking at an academic conference?

Yes you can.  The first-time preparation and delivery of a presentation, poster or lecture attracts 5 CPD credits in the Work-Based Learning category

If you substantially revise the lecture/presentation later, you may claim an additional 5 credits, subject to providing details in the “Key Learning” section of the relevant ePortfolio forms.

Postgraduate:

You can claim CPD credit for preparing and delivering a presentation or lecture to postgraduates.

Undergraduate:

If you feel that preparing and delivering a presentation or lecture to undergraduates has educational value to you, you can claim CPD credit, but you must demonstrate its educational value to you through notes in the reflection section of the ePortfolio form.
