Basic Specialist Training (BST) and Higher Specialist Training (HST)
If you are on a Higher Specialist Training (HST) or Basic Specialist Training (BST) programme, you do not need to enrol on a Professional Competence Scheme.
If you are accepted to join a BST or HST programme, you should be enrolled on a Professional Competence Scheme until your training programme start date.
Doctors who are confirmed to begin BST or HST can enrol between 1 May and the start day of their training programme free of charge.
If you are not already enrolled on a Professional Competence Scheme, you must submit an application to enrol, and submit evidence of acceptance on your training programme to professionalcompetence@rcpi.ie so that we can update your record accordingly.
